Highly Capable Program Nomination Information

Public Nomination for the Highly Capable Program

Nominations will be accepted for currently enrolled students in grades K-12 from May 1 – 29, 2026.  Nominations will be accepted from parents, teachers and community members for initial screening into the Highly Capable Program.

OKSD Highly Capable Identification Process:

1.    Public nominations accepted:  May 1 – 29, 2026

2.    Nominations will be screened by each school’s HCP selection committee composed of teachers, counselors/psychologists, and administrators using multiple objective criteria in accordance to WAC 392-170-045 for creativity and achievement.

3.    Cognitive Testing:  The HCP building selection committee will identify students for additional cognitive testing who demonstrate evidence supporting highly qualified characteristics.

4.    HCP school selection committee(s) will analyze (1) creative, (2) achievement, and (3) cognitive student data to determine placement.

5.    Letters will be mailed to parents announcing the committee’s decision for eligibility.

Parents and community members interested in nominating a child to be assessed for program eligibility can download district nomination paperwork from www.oksd.wednet.edu  or pickup nomination materials from the Okanogan School District office located at 115 Rose St., Okanogan, WA 98840.
