Safety - What to expect
The School District has developed an Emergency Operations Plan that can be obtained through the District office. The plan is reviewed at least annually and drills are performed in each building monthly.
In the event of an emergency here is what you can expect:
- The District will communicate regularly with parents using an emergency notification system that can send voice, text, and emails. The District may also use social media accounts and their website to disseminate information.
- Updates during an emergency will occur as often as deemed necessary and feasible.
- The District will be working closely with other agencies when necessary.
- The District will notify you WHEN and WHERE to pick up students, should that be necessary.
What can parents do during an emergency to help?:
- Be patient, although we understand that this may be difficult
- Wait for updates from the school via the notification system.
- Do not call the school and clog the lines.
- Do not come to the school unless you are asked to do so
- Do not spread rumors on Social Media. Know that the school will send you information
Should a "reunification process" be necessary, please keep the following in mind:
You will be contacted individually if your student is injured, otherwise your student is safe – your student’s safety is our paramount concern.
You will be notified of the exact location to pick up your student. ONLY those currently listed on your “Emergency Contact Card” are authorized to remove your student. DO NOT call the school requesting your student to be removed by someone other than authorized on your “Emergency Contact Card” as it will not be granted.
Once on-site you will be required to complete a “Reunification Information” release document (available on-site) and provide it to District staff prior to your student being released - PLEASE bring identification with you as you will be required to show it during this process.
Please be patient through this process!
