Okanogan School District
Facilitation and Support for
Washington State National Board Certification
National Boards Facilitation for candidates is available in Okanogan County. During the 2018/2019 school year Okanogan School District will be an approved support partner with OSPI for Washington State National Board Certification. Interested teachers from nearby districts are welcome to join any of the cadres for foundations or components one, two, three, or four. An OSPI approved facilitator is available to help all interested candidates through cadres in both the Tonasket and Okanogan School districts. Teachers wishing to get a loan from OSPI must join a support cadre; however, any future National Boards candidate is encouraged to join a cadre for support through the challenging portfolio process. Previous candidates have taken advantage of WEA’s Jumpstart program which provides an excellent introduction for teachers considering pursuing National Boards Certification. In addition, participation in Jumpstart excuses the requirement for the foundations course. Interested teachers should ask an NBCT in your district about the process or contact Dennis O’Connor at doconnor@oksd.wednet.edu ; or text him at 509-434-4889 for more information and answers to questions.
