Okanogan
High School started in 1911 but did not have its first graduates until
1912. Classes offered were English, Arithmetic, and Latin. What’s more,
the faculty included one superintendent and three other teachers. This
is quite a contrast compared to the nearly 25 teachers at the high
school today.
When Okanogan High School started, extracurricular activities were
just as well-liked as they are today; football and track were the
most popular. The athletic budget was not very large then; consequently,
injuries were quite frequent. Speaking of historic Okanogan Football…one
of the best seasons that Okanogan had was in 1922, that team did not give up
any points all season.
